These bonded female
gerbils came to us
from a shelter that
could not keep
them. They were
dumped there by
their previous
owner. We believe
them to be quite
young.
The girls are very
much bonded and
absolutely
adorable. They are
friendly and
curious. They will
come into your hand
if you are patient
and have never tried
to nip.
Poppy is a solid
red. Star is
lavender with a
white star on her
forehead and a
little white stripe
under her chin and
down her throat.
They are absolutely
beautiful.

These three bonded
brothers were dumped
at a shelter, along
with numerous others
gerbils, when
unconscientiously breeding
was allowed to get
out of hand in a
school classroom.
Angus, Tyler, and
Zach are sweet
natured young male
gerbils whom are
curious and healthy.
They are not used to
being handled at
this point, and are
still quite fearful.
With patience and
kindness, the boys
should be easily
hand tamed. They are
typical gerbils
being very active,
loving to run around
through their
cardboard tunnels,
and trying to
play in their wheel.
The wheel is a new
experience for them
and the task of
having it spin in
one direction while
all three are in it
at the same
time seems to be a
fun task to learn.
It is very enjoyable
to watch them
interact together.
These boys are very
fond of one another
and must all be
adopted together.

Darnell is a sweet

from a shelter that
was full of little
critters. He and
his siblings came
to the shelter from
a home that had too
many animals and
weren't able to care
for the little guys
properly.
Darnell is only 8
weeks old and is at
that perfect age to
socialize. Like all
hamsters he loves to
run in his wheel and
also loves to
explore new
territory such as
his foster mom's
couch! He was
initially very quick
and jumpy and a bit
unsure of hands
reaching into his
cage, but as he
grows and is being
handled more he is
becoming a little
mushball of hamster
love.

Maxwell is a hamster
that aspires to work for
the Squeakret Service
one day. His heart is in
the right place, but his
skills do need a bit of
work. This includes
learning that running
repeatedly into a wall
with your hamster ball
will not get you
anywhere, dividing a
cracker before stuffing
it into your cheeks is
probably a good idea,
and realizing that you
can hang from all four
paws from the top of
your cage! Not to be
outdone by the common
hamster, Maxwell always
makes sure he is in top
form by walking in his
hamster wheel and saving
up his energy by
resting. Eat your
sunflower seeds out,

This adorable black bear
hammy is the dad of all
the babies. He was
in rough shape when we
got him, with many
wounds and judging from
both his physical
condition and
personality, we believe
he was mistreated. He is
quite scared of people -
although you can tell he
wants to be around them.
when you try to touch
him he squeals in fear -
but never bites.
He needs a special home
where he will be
appreciated for just
being him and never
again used for breeding!
We have no doubt that he
will warm up to people
once he gets more used
to gentle handling.

fosterhomes.
There was one male, one nursing pregnant female with her four babies, one pregnant female and another female that was thankfully not pregnant. There was a note left on the cages explaining how to breed hamsters so obviously this is what they were doing. The two pregnant females had another 10 and 13 babies bringing the total to 32 hamsters that these "people" had the audacity to leave for someone else to care for.

Rabbit Rescue agreed to take them in and by the end of the day had fosterhomes for all where they will await their forever homes. Mayo loves rearranging his paper tunnel so that it leads to all sorts of new areas of the cage. He loves snuggling under his CareFresh bedding.

Poppy is an adorable baby hamster girl who was recently weaned from her mom and 14 brothers and sisters (!!!). She is terribly cute and is growing like a weed! Her favourite thing to do is to collect all of her hamster food and bring it into her hidey house. Poppy also loves to climb the walls of her cage and hold on for dear life until she eventually drops-- making everyone who watches these stunts cringe each and every time! Poppy was born to a mother who was rescued along with several other hamsters from a flea market where they were dumped. She is still getting used to the idea of people but will gladly take treats from her new human friends.

On October 25, 2008 there were a number of cages full of hamsters left at the entrance to a flea market. Kids were poking at cages and pestering what turned out to be 4 babies and 5 adult hamsters. Rabbit Rescue agreed to take them in and were able to get all of them into
fosterhomes.
There was one male, one nursing pregnant female with her four babies, one pregnant female and another female that was thankfully not pregnant. There was a note left on the cages explaining how to breed hamsters so obviously this is what they were doing. Comet (black) and Blitzen (tan) are a friendly and sweet natured pair of male gerbils. They willingly come up to your hand to investigate if you have any sunflower seed treats. Blitzen loves to run in the wheel and can pick up quite a bit of speed. Comet enjoys
shredding paper towels for their bedding and chewing on cardboard coffee cup trays. They are very bonded to one another and snuggle together in a gerbil pile to snooze; so they should be adopted together in their forever home. They came to us when their time was up at a local shelter. Could you be the forever home they are looking for?

Cashew is a darling little baby hamster who was recently weaned from her momma. She has the cutest little peach face. She is quite the explorer. She loves moving her bedding around to different tunnels in her cage, and carrying her food around to her favourite places. Cashew is quite the little doll. She is super energetic and just can't stay still for long-- she even moves in her sleep. She is sure to be a wheel expert soon!
Cashew was rescued after his mom was dumped outside of a
fleamarket. Within several days in our care, his mom gave birth to him.

A sweet gentle boy who goes like the wind in his wheel!
Big Ears is very new to his foster home but so far he loves little bits of carrots, and comes running to the bars to greet you when you walk by.
Poor little guy was dumped at a shelter and taken in by RR.
More to come as the foster home gets to know him.
